WATCH: Ohio State coach Ryan Day announces 2026 football captains

In case you missed it, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day announced the Buckeye captains for the 2026 season on Saturday. In the OSU program, the captains are voted on by the players, and depending on how the vote breaks, it determines not only the captains but also how many they will have that year.

In this case, Ohio State will have seven captains for just the seventh time in the program's history. That seems like a lot, but all of the guys that were announced make sense. The captains for this fall are Julian Sayin, Jeremiah Smith, Brandon Inniss, Austin Siereveld, Jaylen McClain, and Payton Pierce.

The reveal was done by Day in the 'Shoe on Saturday with the team gathered around, and the Ohio State creative team shared the moment on the "Ohio State Football" X account. Have a look at the moment Day let the team know the seven guys who will represent the scarlet and gray in 2026.

Day also announced Inniss as the seventh "Block O" recipient for the program, and that's a big deal too. Ohio State kicks off the season on Saturday, Sept. 5, against Ball State in the 'Shoe. That's right, one more week and we will officially be in game week mode.
