Michigan State football 2026 game-by-game predictions: Oregon

Michigan State football is right around the corner so it’s time to start predicting how the season will shake out for the Spartans.

Michigan State football is under new leadership this season, with Pat Fitzgerald set to take over as the next head coach. He will take over a program looking to get back on the winning side, with the Spartans in the midst of a four-year bowl drought. Can he get the job done and get the Spartans back to a bowl game this season? I have offered my thoughts on that in our game-by-game predictions segment on Spartans Wire.

We continue on with the next of my game-by-game predictions for each of the matchups on the Spartans’ 2026 schedule. Each morning a new prediction will be released following Michigan State’s schedule. Next up is a Big Ten matchup against Oregon…

Matchup Breakdown

Opponent: Oregon

Date: November 20, 2026

Location: Spartan Stadium (East Lansing, Mich.)

Fun Fact About This Matchup

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore looks to pass as the Oregon Ducks host the Montana State Bobcats on Aug. 30, 2025, at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon.

Oregon starting quarterback and preseason Heisman candidate Dante Moore is from Detroit, and was once considering Michigan State for his collegiate career. Moore was a five-star prospect in the 2023 class, and Michigan State was very much involved at one point in his recruitment. He ultimately ended up at UCLA out of high school and later transferred to Oregon where he has experienced a successful college career.

MSU predicted record: 6-4 (4-3 in Big Ten)

Michigan State comes into this Friday night senior day matchup off the high of clinching a bowl berth the week prior. The Spartans upset the Huskies in their previous game to clinch a bowl berth for the first time since 2021.

At the worst, Oregon is 8-2 coming into this game but very well could be undefeated. Either way, they’ll be firmly in the mix for a spot in the College Football Playoff and highly motivated to leave East Lansing with a victory.

Prediction

Prediction: Oregon wins 38-13

This is a bad matchup for the Spartans, and I fear depth this late in the season will be catching up with them against a national championship contending team like the Oregon Ducks. I have a hard time finding a path for Michigan State to keep this game terribly close and predict this one to be hand for the Ducks most of the way.

Next on the game-by-game predictions list is a road Big Ten game vs. Rutgers. That prediction will be released tomorrow.
