Ole Miss football is wasting no time or expense in endorsing two of its most important players for the 2026 Heisman Trophy race. Those who were taking a stroll through New York City’s iconic Times Square late Sunday night could see the images of Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy prominently displayed. Framed like a political campaign, the digital billboard read, “Trinidad/Kewan ’26.”

While analysts and fans debate over higher-profile players like Arch Manning, CJ Carr, Dante Moore, Jeremiah Smith and Julian Sayin, Ole Miss continues to push its H6I5MEN movement. The Rebels and their boosters are doing everything possible to promote its star duo before the new college season officially kicks off on Thursday. This is not exactly innovative, however.

In 2001, the Oregon Ducks plastered Joey Harrington’s face on Times Square billboards, as ESPN’s Pete Thamel reminded people on X. The aggressive approach did not yield the desired results, but it did give the quarterback significantly more exposure. Harrington ultimately finished fourth in the 2001 Heisman voting and won Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Trinidad Chambliss enjoyed an outstanding introduction into the SEC, seizing the starting quarterback job under head coach Lane Kiffin and helping the program achieve its best season of the 21st Century. He threw for 3,937 yards and 22 touchdowns in 15 games, only tossed three interceptions and performed excellently in the College Football Playoff. If he can exhibit a similar poise in big-game situations, the two-time Division II champion will be a popular name when the polls open.

The muscled-up 24-year-old cannot lead this offense all on his own, though. Fellow transfer Kewan Lacy quickly established himself as a Rebels powerhouse last year, totaling 246 rushing yards and four touchdowns in his first two games. He ran for 224 and three scores in a Nov. 15 game versus Florida and  matched Chambliss’ CFP splendor with standout showings against Georgia and Miami.

The Dallas, Texas native earned AP Second-Team All-American honors, but he should attract even more national attention in 2026. How Chambliss and Lacy carry themselves this upcoming season will greatly determine how the first full year of the Pete Golding era unfolds in Oxford. If Ole Miss remains a championship contender, then Heisman Trophy voters will likely have no choice but to consider at least one of these men.
