The most notable decommitment from the Georgia Bulldogs' class of 2026 has learned his fate in the Vanderbilt Commodores' quarterback battle. Former Georgia commitment and true freshman Jared Curtis lost out to senior Blaze Berlowitz.
Curtis is a five-star recruit and was widely regarded as the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2026. Curtis lost out to Berlowitz, who appeared in six games last season for Vanderbilt.
Berlowitz completed nine of 17 pass attempts for 131 passing yards and one touchdown. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback also ran 11 times for 81 yards and one rushing touchdown.
Berlowitz will made his first career start in Vanderbilt's season opener against Austin Peay on Sept. 5. Curtis is also expected to take snaps in that game.
It will be interesting to see if Berlowitz can maintain his grip on the starting job. Curtis is talented and will continue expanding his grasp on the Vanderbilt offense. The Commodores travel to Georgia to play the Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 3.
