Lane Kiffin's LSU Tigers are in the middle of a firestorm thanks to their recruitment of former Cleveland Browns player Dae'Quan Wright.

While the college football world is abuzz with concern and dismay about LSU's pursuit of Wright, Kiffin believes he hasn't done anything wrong and that others would do the same thing.

"Through (players) winning injunctions and entry into the portal, they are available to recruit,” Kiffin said to USA TODAY Sports and other reporters at a press conference. “Ourselves and many places around the country are recruiting them. … Because of the rulings, they are going to play for you or someone else."

While Kiffin didn't mention Wright by name, and could not since he technically has not signed with LSU yet, LSU's head coach doesn't think programs or players should be criticized for the aftermath that takes place as a result of court rulings.

"We made the decision to recruit them. It’s wrong to be critical of these kids. They were granted a fifth year and a judge said they were wronged." Kiffin said.

In a statement of their own, the SEC disagrees with Kiffin's assessment, stating, "Individuals who choose to leave college athletics, sign professional playing contracts, and compete professionally should not then be permitted to return to college competition."
