Baylor vs Arizona Prediction: Can the Wildcats Stay Hot?

These are interesting times for both teams.

Arizona appears to have turned things around under Brent Brennan, going on a three-game winning streak including a victory at Cincinnati last week to keep hopes of a ten-win season alive.

The Wildcats are playing for better bowl position, and Baylor is looking for that one win to get it into a post-season game.

The Bears have this and then a date against Houston to close, but no matter what happens, head coach Dave Aranda will be back next season – the fans will want something positive to close out 2025.

Why Baylor Will Win

Stopping the run is everything for Baylor.

The passing game is fantastic – even if it’s not consistent or always accurate – and the pop is there to keep up in any sort of firefight. But everything is off when the run defense isn’t working.

The Bears turn it over too much, there’s not enough of a pass rush, and the defense can’t seem to stop anyone from scoring lately, but hold up against the run, and the rest of the parts work.

Baylor is 5-0 when allowing fewer than 165 yards on the ground – 0-5 when it doesn’t – and Arizona is a hit-or-miss team running the ball.

Just start selling out against the run, start throwing well right away, and …

Why Arizona Will Win

Arizona is 5-0 when running for 165 yards or more.

Again, the Baylor defense has had a few problems over the last few weeks. TCU, Cincinnati, and Utah all marched and scored at will.

The run defense wasn’t even close in any of the three games.

Meanwhile, Arizona has been nearly perfect in tight games lately. The penalties aren’t happening, the turnovers have dried up, and the team is playing like it found its form.

It’s at home on Senior Day, Baylor has allowed 41 points or more in every road game but the blowout win over Oklahoma State, and …

Baylor vs Arizona Prediction, Betting Lines

Baylor will get its O going right away to make this a little more of an offensive game than the Wildcats might like.

Arizona is 0-3 when allowing more than 24 points, 7-0 when giving up that many or more, and Baylor is 5-1 when scoring 30 points or more and 0-4 when it doesn’t.

The Arizona running game will hammer down on the clock in the second half. the Big 12’s second-best defense will take care of the rest.
