The Wisconsin Badgers are in a fragile place right now. With too many people skeptical about the future of the program, it is hard to see through what feels like a thick cloud of fog surrounding a football team in dire need of a strong season under head coach Luke Fickell. However, it is not all doom and gloom, as the Badgers have what 247Sports’ Chris Hummer has identified as one of the nation’s top assistants under 30 years old in inside linebackers coach Tuf Borland.

Borland started with the Badgers in the 2023 season as a graduate assistant and has since worked his way up to inside linebackers coach ahead of this year, with a stop as assistant linebacker coach in 2025. Borland was a former four-star recruit who enjoyed a storied career with the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2016-2020, becoming only the second player in Buckeye history to be a three-time captain. Borland left Ohio State with 229 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions.Following his five years with the program, Borland latched onto the Minnesota Vikings, where he appeared in two games before being released in May 2022.
