Michigan State football S Nikai Martinez talks upcoming season

Michigan State is winding down fall camp and switching gears to prepare for a week one matchup with Toledo, the first of Pat Fitzgerald’s tenure as head coach in East Lansing.

When the Spartans hit the field, there will be a ton of new faces, but there will also be a few very familiar names. One of those names is Nikai Martinez, who is heading into his fifth year of college football, his third in East Lansing.

Martinez, who opted to stay in East Lansing rather than turn professional or transfer, is going to be a massive part of the Spartans defense and is once again going to be a team leader, as he was named captain on Monday.

Martinez spoke to the media following practice on Monday, where he talked about his final year of college football and what it means to him to be a captain once again in East Lansing.
