The 2026 football season for the Auburn Tigers is on the horizon. As we anticipate the start of the season, let's introduce you to a key member of the 2026 roster.
The hometown kid, Omar Mabson, has been a fan favorite this offseason. He has received plenty of praise from the coaching staff about his commitment to improving and finding a way to help the team in any way.
"He doesn't say a whole lot, but he's on a mission to win a job," head coach Alex Golesh said. "He's pushed others in that room to either get on his level, or they're gonna struggle. He keeps showing us why he should play."
Mabson has been battling with the Baylor transfer Bryson Washington for the No. 2 spot at running back throughout the spring and summer. Mabson really impressed with his ability to pass protect. Golesh has spoken about wanting to utilize the running back room to its fullest because of the level of talent that it has.
Freshman year for Mabson saw him get limited carries. He finished with only 16 carries for 71 yards. Originally recruited out of Auburn High, 247Sports rated him a three-star prospect. He received the Opelika-Auburn News Offensive Player of the Year his junior season.
