Ohio State DB named to the Hispanic Player of the Year watch list

We're not quite done with the college football awards preseason watch lists. In fact, we received another two more of them on Wednesday, one of them being the Hispanic College Football Player of the Year watch list. The award is just what it says and goes to the best Hispanic college football player yearly. The award is presented by the newly founded Hispanic Football Hall of Fame.

It's a new award in only its second year, after Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza was honored last year. Ohio State does have a player included on the watch list that was released, and it's none other than cornerback Devin Sanchez.

Entering just his sophomore season, Sanchez appeared in 13 games, with one of those being a start against Illinois. He finished the season with 15 tackles (five of those against Illinois), two pass deflections, and a fumble recovery last year.

Finalists for the award will be announced in December, with the winner being unveiled shortly after that. Only twenty names are on the initial watch list, so maybe Sanchez can have the type of year to get noticed.
