LSU football revealed who will don the No. 7 during the 2026 college football season. The staff selected to players — tight end Trey'Dez Green and linebacker Whit Weeks.

Both Green and Weeks are holdovers from the Brian Kelly era. Lane Kiffin made retaining them a priority when he got to Baton Rouge. Each is expected to have an All-SEC-caliber season at their respective positions.

Green and Weeks were awarded the number at a team meeting with former LSU running back (and a No. 7 himself) Leonard Fournette there to lead the presentation.

The No. 7 has a special legacy at LSU. Quarterback Burt Jones wore it in the 70s, but the number's story really took off with cornerback Patrick Peterson in the 2000s. Peterson was an All-American corner and passed the number on to Tyrann Mathieu, who was a Heisman finalist in 2011.

Fournette wore it for three years. Other No. 7s include wide receiver DJ Chark and left tackle Will Campbell. Though as an offensive lineman, Campbell could only wear a No. 7 jersey patch, not the actual jersey.

Green is coming off a breakout year where he racked up seven touchdowns and was LSU's most reliable pass-catching target. At 6-foot-7, Green is a matchup nightmare for defenders.

As for Weeks, he's expected to be one of the top linebackers in the SEC. Weeks has over 1,300 career snaps with the Tigers and is a leader for the defense. Per PFF, Weeks has 88 career stops and 49 pressures.
