Penn State put an emphasis on earning commitments from lesser-known recruits to fill out future classes, but now they’re focusing on quality. The school already submitted an offer for five-star defensive end Cassell Cruickshank last week, and while this next recruit doesn’t have five stars yet, he may be well on his way.

Ryan Snyder of On3 Sports reported on Wednesday that four-star tight end Jevyn Severson will be visiting the school on Oct. 10 for the White Out game vs. USC. The top 100 recruit is the latest in a long line of blue-chip prospects who will be attending that game.

Severson is a Class of 2028 prospect that is generating a ton of interest around the country. He could very easily earn a fifth star at some point in the next two years, and it seems like Matt Campbell and his staff have an excellent shot of landing him.

The massive tight end visited with Iowa State multiple times during Campbell’s tenure there, but he hasn’t returned since the coach made the move to Penn State. Now, with a visit locked in for arguably the most anticipated Nittany Lions game of the season, he’ll continue to build his relationship with Campbell and learn the new members of his staff.

With Indiana being the only other major player for Severson, it seems like a recruitment that Penn State could certainly win. Expect Campbell, and the players visiting on Oct. 10 who’ve already committed, to give him a spirited pitch to commit to the team.
