Expectations are through the roof for Notre Dame football in 2026. Rece Davis recently declared that Notre Dame is the favorite to win the national championship. After missing the College Football Playoffs in 2025, the team is set for a run in 2026.

Now, more experts are also selecting Notre Dame to win it all, per Nicole Auerbach and Joshua Perry of NBC Sports.

“My bracket reflects my overall philosophy heading into this college football season: I trust the Big Ten’s big three, and I trust Notre Dame,” Auerbach wrote.

She has the Irish getting the top overall seed in the tournament, knocking out Ohio State and Oregon on the way to the national championship game. There, they will face defending champion Indiana, but get the win.

“But, overall, I like Notre Dame best. The Irish have the best defensive player in the country in cornerback Leonard Moore. They have what could be the best quarterback in the country in CJ Carr. They feel good about every level of their defense and are confident that they can have a productive run game, even after losing the special Jeremiyah Love-Jadarian Price duo,” Auerbach continued.

Auerbach was not the only one to pick Notre Dame, as Joshua Perry also has them winning it all. He has Notre Dame as the two seed, beating Miami and Ohio State before taking out Georgia in the national championship.

“My game picks were pretty much chalk, mostly because I’m not going to pick against myself right now. I’m really high on Notre Dame, and that’s my championship pick. Marcus Freeman has built a strong program, and when you combine that with a schedule that virtually guarantees them a playoff bid and all of his roster talent, the Irish will be in position to be the last team standing,” Perry wrote.

Notre Dame opens the season against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field on September 6.
