The Colorado Buffaloes' season opener is a week away, which means preseason predictions are all the rage.

CBS Sports came out with its Big 12 expert picks this week, giving its most overrated and underrated teams, projected final standings, and bold predictions.

Colorado was absent from the underrated and overrated section, and, unsurprisingly, all but one of the seven CBS Sports writers picked CU to finish 15th in the Big 12, with Iowa State the most common opponent to finish behind the Buffs.

The preseason doubt continues to pile up for Colorado, which was placed outside the top 100 among all 138 FBS teams. However, the internal expectations are extremely high, with several players mentioning hopes of competing in a Big 12 title game.

Whether the Buffs can meet those expectations remains to be seen, but the talent is there, both on the roster and on the coaching staff, to have a successful season. Playing in a Big 12 title game might be a stretch, but a 7- or 8-win season is certainly achievable.

Colorado opens its quest to prove the doubters wrong next Thursday, Sept. 3, in Atlanta against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
