2027 NFL Draft WR Rankings: Cam Coleman, Charlie Becker Chasing Jeremiah Smith

For football junkies, it’s never too early to look at the future faces of the game. The wide receiver class could end up being one of the best position groups in the 2027 NFL Draft and possibly in recent history.

Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith is already getting most of the attention, and for good reason. Indiana’s Charlie Becker and Texas’ Cam Coleman are also names worth watching, and both could make the receiver conversation a lot more interesting during the 2026 college football season.

These three grade out as not only the best receiver prospects in the 2027 NFL Draft but also as top-10 overall players, according to PFN’s NFL Draft analyst Ian Cummings. Let’s take a look at what makes these players so special.

Jeremiah Smith, Ohio State

Smith is in a different spot than most young receivers. He came to Ohio State as the No. 1 overall recruit in the country, so the expectations were already ridiculously high, and with the Ohio State wide receiver lineage, it became hard to believe he could live up to them.

Somehow, he exceeded the hype.

Through two seasons, Smith has 163 catches for 2,558 yards and 27 touchdowns. He’s 6-foot-3 and around 223 pounds, but he doesn’t move like someone that size. He can get downfield, make contested catches, and create separation without relying on just one part of his game. In 2025, he posted a PFN WR Impact Score of 85.1.

He is a freak-of-nature athlete who seems to have even more left in the tank of untapped potential. That’s probably the biggest reason he’s getting so much attention this early. Smith doesn’t really have to prove that he belongs in the conversation anymore. The 2026 season is more about seeing how high his ceiling actually is.

Charlie Becker, Indiana

Becker is a completely different story. He wasn’t a highly rated recruit coming out of high school, and he spent much of his freshman season contributing on special teams. That’s because he entered the 2025 season behind more established receivers at Indiana, with . Elijah Sarratt and Omar Cooper Jr. ahead of him on the depth chart.

However, when they went down due to injuries, it was next man up, and Becker truly came out of nowhere in the same fashion the Indiana Hoosiers did. Becker caught 27 passes for 522 yards and 3 touchdowns over Indiana’s final seven games. He’s 6-foot-4 and about 207 pounds, with the speed and quickness to make him more than just a big target on the outside.

His background is interesting, too. Becker won state championships in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles in high school, which helps explain some of the movement skills he shows on the football field.

Cummings has Becker at a 90.58 draft grade, good for third overall in the entire class. This is Becker’s time to prove last season wasn’t a one-hit wonder. Now, with Sarratt and Cooper both in the NFL, Becker gets a chance to prove that he is worth the hype as one of the best wide receivers (and players) in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Cam Coleman, Texas

Coleman might have the biggest opportunity of the three. He was a five-star recruit at Auburn, but his production never really matched the expectations that came with that ranking. Part of that had to do with the quarterback situation, and Coleman still showed plenty of the athletic ability that made him such a highly regarded prospect.

Now, he’s at Texas… and everything is bigger in Texas. Coleman has a chance to become one of Arch Manning’s main targets, which should give him plenty of opportunities to show what he can actually do.

At 6-foot-3 and around 204 pounds, Coleman has the size to play on the outside, but his quickness is what makes him especially interesting. He can stretch the field, but he also has the movement skills to become a more complete route runner.

Entering the 2026 season, Smith needs to keep doing what he’s been doing. Becker needs to show that his breakout at the end of last season was the start of something bigger. Coleman finally needs to turn his physical talent into the production the people expected of him at Auburn.

There’s a long way to go before the 2027 NFL Draft, so calling this a finished picture would be a mistake. But if these three continue on their current paths, wide receiver could be one of the main stories of the entire draft class. Right now, everyone is chasing Smith, who sits at No. 1 at the position.
