The Los Angeles Rams wrapped up a perfect preseason on Thursday night with their third straight win of the summer. They beat the Los Angeles Chargers, 20-18, led by rookie Ty Simpson's impressive performance as the starter.

This was the last chance for several players to push for a roster spot, or at the very least, a job on the practice squad. These six players stood out in a positive way, helping the Rams take down the Chargers at SoFi.

QB Ty Simpson

Simpson had his opportunities limited by a lopsided score last week, but he got the start on Thursday night and was given every opportunity to throw the ball. He turned in a very good performance, completing 18 of 23 passes for 119 passes and one touchdown. He avoided a turnover for the third straight game, too.

His best throw of the preseason came on an 11-yard touchdown strike to Brennan Presley, rolling out to his left and making a perfect throw to his receiver in the end zone for six points. He was confident and accurate, completing 11 of his first 12 passes. It would've been hard for Simpson to have a much better preseason than he had.

RB Dean Connors

This was Connors' last opportunity to prove he deserves to make the team and he gave the coaching staff a lot to like. He caught another touchdown pass on a Texas route, finding the void in the zone and hauling in Matthew Caldwell's pass at the goal line.

On the ground, he rushed for 69 yards on 18 carries, once again looking shifty and elusive with the ball in his hands. He also caught three passes for 24 yards, including a touchdown. Was it enough to make the team? Maybe not. But he was a standout all preseason for the Rams.

CB Cam Lampkin

Lampkin was another player who needed a strong performance to bolster his chances of making the team and he stepped up. The slender cornerback made six tackles, one of them being a sack and another going for a loss on a run play. He was lightning quick blitzing off the edge, and he wasn't afraid to come up and tackle.

It capped off a solid preseason for the young cornerback, who's right on the roster bubble ahead of final cuts.

WR Brennan Presley

Presley just brings some juice to the offense when he's on the field. He's quick and agile, and he displayed good hands once again on Thursday night. He caught six passes for 32 yards and that terrific touchdown from Simpson, finishing as one of the team's most productive players.

WR CJ Daniels

Not all of Daniels' receptions were easy. In fact, a good portion of them were contested and away from his frame, forcing him to snatch the ball with his hands. Daniels didn't really make any spectacular plays this preseason and most of his receptions were short-to-intermediate throws, but he showed why the Rams like his potential as an outside receiver.

He finished with five catches for 42 yards on six targets.

OLB Darryl Peterson III

Peterson came through in the clutch for the Rams, recording the game-sealing strip-sack in the final minute. It was his second sack of the game, and could've been his third if not for an offsides penalty that negated one just two plays prior. The rookie showed some potential on the edge, putting himself in the mix for a practice squad spot.
