Bill Belichick enters his second season as the North Carolina head coach, and the pressure is on him to show improvement following a disappointing 2025.
The first year of the Belichick experience in Chapel Hill was a roller coaster full of controversies, starting early in the winter and lasting through the season. Belichick went from the possible savior for the Tar Heels to a potential early exit from his lengthy contract.
However, Belichick remained the North Carolina head coach after that 4-8 season, and his second offseason was much quieter than his first. While there were still some dysfunctional moments, the low-key nature could benefit the team as it heads into Year 2 of the Belichick regime.
With North Carolina once again being one of the teams to watch in college football, here's a full breakdown of the program's dysfunction since Belichick arrived.

December 11, 2024: Bill Belichick is officially hired as North Carolina's 35th head coach,
February 28, 2025: The Athletic reports that HBO's "Hard Knocks" wants to make North Carolina the first college team to appear on the program.
March 3, 2025: Negotiations between UNC and "Hard Knocks" fall through when Belichick's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, became more involved in talks.
March 13, 2025: According to Matt Hartman of The Assembly, Belichick sent out an email to his staff asking them to copy Jordon Hudson on all emails meant for him.
April 15, 2025: A story from The Athletic goes into depth about how Hudson is a crucial piece of Belichick's program and includes a handful of emails from both Belichick and Hudson.
April 27, 2025: Belichick is interviewed by "CBS Sunday Morning," which turns controversial as Hudson chimes in from the background.

April 28, 2025: A TMZ report claims that Hudson stormed off the "CBS Sunday Morning" set after being frustrated by the interview.
"We're told outside of that baffling moment that made the final edit, there were numerous other instances of Hudson butting in — even when the legendary coach was answering questions about football, she would stop and correct him," TMZ said.
April 30, 2025: North Carolina decries the TMZ report as a "false narrative," claiming Hudson wasn't to controlling in the interview.

Meanwhile, The Athletic reports that Hudson was the reason the "Hard Knocks" deal fell through.
May 9, 2025: Pablo Torre releases a report on Belichick's North Carolina tenure, revealing that Hudson was banned from the facility and a concern for the overall operation.

May 13, 2025: A Washington Post story reports that North Carolina was struggling to deal with public relation issues stemming from Hudson's involvement in the program.
"It's just so odd," a UNC official said. "And we just don't know what's coming. Those two decide what they're going to do, and they do it."
May 20, 2025: The New York Times releases a story about Hudson's control in the Belichick regime, including how she asked HBO for content approval in "Hard Knocks" negotiations.
