For any team to have a chance to win the College Football Playoff title, they have to have plenty of talented and on Thursday 247Sports proved that Notre Dame has plenty of it.

They released their 2026 Team Talent Composite rankings and the Irish are just outside the top-5 at No. 6. This list is littered with contenders including Georgia, Oregon, and Ohio State, but this isn’t an exact indicator of how the season will play out. At the moment, many have picked Notre Dame to win the CFP championship, as this doesn’t account the coaching or team chemistry.

As for the latter, the Irish have plenty of it, and most of that credit has to go to head coach Marcus Freeman. He’s elevated the program to a place that many didn’t believe that it could go to, contending for a national championship. This will be the first year of his tenure that he returns both of his coordinators, as defensive coordinator Chris Ash and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock bring cohesion to their respective groups.

The good news for the Irish that since 247Sports started this system in 2015, every team that has won the title has been ranked inside the top-15. The Blue and Gold are there, which bodes well for this seasons outlook. Many believe that Notre Dame has what it takes to win it all, and they’ll start their journey very soon.
