The Seattle Seahawks are well into their preseason with just one game left before Week 1 against the New England Patriots.

And that means we are edging closer to seeing Brian Fleury's first "proper" NFL game as an offensive coordinator.

Based on what we've seen from Seattle's two preseason games with the backups, Fleury has his team flowing with confidence, and that is without seeing the starters on the field.

Drew Lock and Co. marched down the field with ease against the Tennessee Titans' starters in their last preseason outing, so no doubt confidence is high as the regular season draws near.

But what about the starters? How do they think the offensive is traveling?

For Rashid Shaheed, compared to last season, the offense is roughly the same, but with Fleury's wrinkles thrown in, it's in a good place right now.

"We have a good idea of how we want to operate, and so does Fleury, and I feel he came in, and we've been able to kind of just feed off that energy from last year," Shaheed said. "The offense is pretty similar, there's some nuances, but I feel like we just came in and had the right mindset, continue to grow with all of us together within the offense, and it's been good so far."

Given that the starters haven't played at all in preseason, there are some who naturally are worried about Seattle starting slow.

And with the Patriots up first – after we get done with tonight's preseason visit to Kansas City – there isn't an easy game to get yourself into the season. It's a tough outing to begin with.

So how do the starters get their work in to prepare themselves for Week 1 when they aren't playing in preseason?

"Practice needs to be the focal point," Shaheed said. "Each and every rep you got to try to make it into a game rep. Mentally, just coming out and competing. I feel like our coaches
do a good job of setting up practice so we get that work in."

It has been a long preseason, but players can now see the finish line with one game left before the "real" stuff starts.

Roster cuts come before that, so players will be going all out in practice and against the Kansas City Chiefs in the last preseason game, but for the starters like Shaheed, it's all about sharpening their tools in readiness for Week 1.
