‘Con man’ Lane Kiffin ripped by FOX Sports radio host for sleazy tactics

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin continues to make national college football news.

Last year, Kiffin accepted the LSU Tigers head coach position, while the team he coached all season, Ole Miss, was about to embark on a College Football Playoff journey. Not only did Kiffin accept the job during the Rebels’ run, but he didn’t coach the team in the CFP.

Instead, defensive coordinator Pete Golding stepped up, and he is now the new head coach of Ole Miss.

Once again, Kiffin has made some national headlines, and we aren’t even into Week 0 yet.

Analyst Aaron Torres had a 17-minute segment on Kiffin during the Aaron Torres Sports Podcast, and he believes Kiffin has always been a con man.

Torres recalled Kiffin’s old days: after he left Tennessee to head to USC, he was telling players not to enroll in class, so they could join him with the Trojans. Fast forward several years; now Kiffin is getting players from the NFL to join him at LSU.

“And when he left Tennessee, do you remember it was the day before classes were about to start,” Torres asked. “He goes to USC. And him and Coach O were telling recruits or telling players, “Don’t enroll in classes. don’t show up to class tomorrow because as soon as you show up to class, we you’re going to you’re going to be stuck here and you can’t transfer”.

“I mean, these are the things that he’s been doing for 20 years. And like I said, this was all supposed to stop because he’s at LSU and it’s bigger than him and the brand is so big and 100,000 people at Tiger Stadium every Saturday. He doesn’t need to do the things that he’s been doing. Yet, here we are.”

Kiffin has added NFL players, but will they play?

Entering 2026, the NCAA passed a 5-for-5 rule, which allows players to have five years of eligibility. Since, members of the 2022 class wanted a piece of the pie, and have since been suing the NCAA and getting injunctions to play.

That includes players on NFL rosters. Kiffin has added three players who were on an NFL roster, but the Power 4 Conferences have come together to put rules in place to attempt to stop that from happening.

As for the SEC, Kiffin would be suspended for half the contests, along with a hefty fine. The school that breaks the rules would also lose its SEC voting rights.

You can assume that Kiffin will attempt to find any loophole he can, and with Week 1 just over a week away, we will find out if those players suit up for the Tigers.
