Rookie cornerback Tacario Davis was taken in the third round of the NFL Draft this season. It was a bit earlier than some experts anticipated, but the measurables were simply so rare to find.

At 6’4 and a hair under 195 lbs., you simply do not find guys at that size who can play corner every year, and it’s something the Cincinnati Bengals needed more of.

So, it’s good to see he does have some pretty good ball skills, which we saw in Friday’s preseason finale vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, turning a pass that went through the receiver’s hands into an interception.

This play is exactly what you want to see from your corners. Making a play on the ball in a split second that shouldn’t be there. He even had a little wiggle there on the return.

This also came after Davis had a beautiful deflection on the first drive of the game. The commentators said he is playing in this game because the coaches want to see him get more reps. They plan on deploying him in certain packages to use his size on bigger receivers.

For those that remember Tre Flowers who had a short stint with the team during their run to the Super Bowl. He was used against the talented tight ends that are such matchup nightmares for defenses. Davis may be used in a similar fashion early in his career.
