Buffalo vs UAlbany Prediction: The Start of a Big Bulls Season?
NCAAF College Football News, Photos, Stats, Scores, Schedule & Videos...
Buffalo was close to being decent last year, but it came up just short of getting bowl eligible. It can’t mess up early on with Penn State coming up in a few weeks, but overall, the schedule and team should mesh into a strong campaign.
UAlbany, though, is improved enough to be a dangerous out. After a 2-10 season with several close calls, it came out hot with a strong 28-14 win over New Hampshire to get things started.
Buffalo vs UAlbany: Quick Hits
- The two upstate New York teams haven’t played since back-to-back dates in 2015 and 2016 – UB won 51-14, but got hit with a 22-16 loss in ’16.
- Buffalo has lost three of its last four openers, but all were to power conference teams.
- The Bulls go on the road over the next two weeks to FIU and then Penn State, but four of the next five are at home.

Why UAlbany Will Win
The ground game ran all over New Hampshire for 374 yards. The offense was able to control the clock, the rested defense held on in the second half, and the same formula can work again against a Bulls defense that has to replace star Red Murdock and most of the top linebackers.
Why Buffalo Will Win
There won’t be much from the Great Dane passing game. The offense will want and need to try winning on the ground, and the Buffalo secondary will eat up everything that comes its way.
The UB pass rush might not be quite as strong as last year, but it should generate far more pressure and big plays in the backfield than New Hampshire did.

Buffalo vs UAlbany Prediction, Betting Lines
This is when Buffalo needs to lock in the quarterback situation. Jason Wright is a good runner, but Elijah Holmes is a playmaker with experience. He’ll come up with a strong performance, the offensive line will be solid, and the defense will take care of the rest – especially against the run.
