Ohio State keeping close watch on 2027 in-state RB, upcoming visit planned

Full focus ahead to next Saturday and beyond, Ohio State’s recruiting news and headlines may be a touch less active than usual, but that doesn’t mean this coaching staff isn’t still at work looking for the next great Buckeye.

The 2027 class is in great shape with just a few spots up for grabs, and it will be interesting to see where this program goes for the finishing touches. There’s at least one position that still needs to be addressed, and whether that happens via the high school ranks or the transfer portal remains the only question.

We’ve heard Ryan Day talk about senior evaluations, and with that comes the chance to get in the mix for new names late in the cycle thanks to their performances. This staff always watching nearby and national prospects, the past couple of days has shed some light on one in-state name that is hearing from Ohio State following an impressive start to his senior campaign.

One of the top matchups in week one for Ohio high school football, Cincinnati Princeton versus Cincinnati Moeller had top talent all over the field. A game that saw Princeton come out on top, it was in large part thanks to running back Jordan Hall.

A 5-foot-11, 205 pound athlete currently committed to Miami (Ohio), Hall had a big time performance that included nearly 200 total yards and three touchdowns. The kind of effort that turns heads, Hall took to his social media shortly after the game to share he had received his latest offer from Penn State.

Rightfully so, Hall is seeing his recruiting interests increase following week one, and that includes Ohio State, who needs to add a running back to this 2027 class after missing on their top target just a month ago.

The No. 1181 player nationally and the 88th best running back in the 2027 class per the 247Sports Composite, Hall’s status remains committed to Miami, but that very well could be up in the air thanks to his surge of attention.

No offer from the Buckeyes yet, Ohio State is at least showing their interest, and Hall made that clear on Thursday when he shared that he will be heading to Columbus next weekend for a game day visit against Ball State.

A visit that could very well end up with him leaving town with an Ohio State offer, Carlos Locklyn and crew are paying their full attention to the Cincinnati product knowing his abilities and their need at the position.

Their chance to host Hall next week, it looks as if the Buckeyes have one new name to the recruiting board and though he’s seeing increased interest from other programs as well, it’s always tough to beat Ohio State when it comes to in-state prospects.
