Matt Campbell will look to win his first game as Penn State's head coach when the Nittany Lions face Marshall in their 2026 season opener.
Penn State fired James Franklin in the middle of the 2025 campaign after a string of early losses ended the program's dream of competing for a national championship. Campbell, who previously served as the head coach at Iowa State, will try to push the Nittany Lions back toward the top of the conference standings.
Fortunately for Penn State, Big Ten heavyweights like Indiana, Ohio State and Oregon aren't on the schedule. The team will start its non-conference slate with a battle against Marshall in front of the home crowd.
