Can't Wait For Saturday Conference countdown continues: What happens in Vegas might lead to CFP bid

So, I already ranked the teams, 1 to 40.

How am a feeling about the conferences? There are 10 playing in the Football Bowl Subdivision. As the season approaches, here is my list — in reverse order of course.

If you think I've lost my marbles with the order, let me have it at . Remember, I'm sensitive so please no digital booing if that is a thing.

7. MOUNTAIN WEST 10

UNLV

— Former Florida coach Dan Mullen worked wonders his first season on the Strip, leading the Rebels to 10 wins and an appearance in the Frisco Bowl. The only bummer was the way the season ended, with losses to Boise State in the Mountain West title game and to Ohio in the bowl.

After the season, Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year Anthony Colandrea entered the transfer portal and ended up at Nebraska. The solution at quarterback could be Jackson Arnold, who also played at Oklahoma and Auburn.

— Mullen has just three starters back on offense and three on defense.

— UNLV tailback Jet Thomas could follow Colandrea as league POY. He ran for 1.036 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2025 and gained another 91 on 11 catches. Two of the team's starting offensive linemen are back to create a path.

UNLV at New Mexico, Nov. 14.

This is a chance for the Rebels to get revenge for a five-point home loss to the Lobos in 2025. If UNLV can pull off noncon wins early in the season against Memphis (American) and Cal (ACC) this matchup will have major stakes.
