Four-Star QB Julian Reese II Commits to Delaware, Making History for Blue Hens

Delaware is heading into its second season at the FBS level, but Ryan Carty’s program is already making a noticeable push on the recruiting trail.
The Blue Hens went 7-6 in their first FBS campaign in 2025 and capped the year with a win over Louisiana in the 68 Ventures Bowl.
According to 247Sports’ Mike Roach, Delaware had never landed a four-star prospect in the 247Sports era. That made Friday’s development especially notable.
Julian Reese II, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound quarterback and athlete from Palo Duro High School in Amarillo, Texas, held offers from Houston, Wake Forest, UNLV and UTEP among others, but instead of choosing a more established FBS destination, Reese announced his commitment to Delaware, giving the Blue Hens the highest-rated recruit in program history.
“Delaware is on top for me because of the way the players and coaches made me feel. It was like they’ve known me forever,” Reese told Rivals. “They make it feel like home by the way they treated me.”
Reese also pointed to his fit in Carty’s offense and the opportunity to become a centerpiece for the program as the two main reasons for his choice.
“I feel like I fit in at Delaware because of the schemes they run,” Reese said. “It’s very similar to my high school’s, so it will pretty much be the same thing I’m doing now. I also feel like Coach Carty believes that I can be the face of the program.”
On3 considers Reese a three-star recruit and ranks him as the No. 28 quarterback in the 2027 class. 247Sports, meanwhile, has him listed as a four-star prospect, the No. 16 athlete nationally and the No. 41 player in Texas.

Reese produced 3,053 passing yards, 31 touchdowns and only three interceptions as a junior. He also rushed for 449 yards and 12 touchdowns while adding two interceptions on defensive snaps.
As things stand, Delaware has 17 players from the 2027 class committed to the program, including Reese and five three-star recruits.
