Ted Cruz Shows Embarrassing Lack Of College Football Knowledge

U.S. Senator Ted Cruz attempted to put Michigan politician Abdul El-Sayed on blast this week, but in the process, he just exposed himself for his lack of college football knowledge.

Abdul El-Sayed, 41, is the Democratic nominee in the 2026 United States Senate election in Michigan. He made it clear that he’s hoping Michigan will take down Ohio State on the field this season. El-Sayed is surely trying to get Michigan Wolverines fans behind him ahead of the election.

“It’s about to be football season…I can’t wait to beat Ohio,” he said.

Michigan fans, coaches, players, etc. have often referred to Ohio State as “Ohio.” It’s similar to how Ohio State players, coaches and fans won’t say the word “Michigan.” They say “That Team Up North.”

It doesn’t mean they don’t know what school they’re talking about. It’s just part of the rivalry. Ted Cruz doesn’t appear to know this, though.

Cruz is the clown in this scenario, though.

“Michigan calls us “Ohio” and we call them “the team up north” stay in your lane 🤣,” one fan wrote.

“He went to U of M. He’s heard of OSU. He was brushing it off like they don’t matter cause that’s what Michiganders do. It’s called rivalry, and you’d get it if you were from here,” one fan added.

“Can’t stand this guy. But to be fair, Michigan fans do refer to Ohio State as just Ohio,” one fan added.

“Attempting to dunk on a guy for not knowing what he talks about when it is you actually. Hahahahaha. Everyone knows Michigan people only say Ohio when referring to OSU,” one fan added.

“Ted, maybe twitter isn’t for you,” one fan added.

Ohio State and Michigan are scheduled to play in Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 28. The game will air on FOX.
