LSU’s embarrassing blowout loss to Texas A&M proved to be the final breaking point for Brian Kelly’s tenure in Baton Rouge, ultimately leading the Tigers to part ways with their head coach.
However, former LSU defensive tackle Breiden Fehoko has now claimed that he played a major role in the decision, drawing widespread backlash from college football fans.

This week, a fan criticized Fehoko, accusing the former defensive tackle of never having anything positive to say about the Tigers since leaving the program, going as far as to label him an undercover Ole Miss fan.
Fehoko did not hold back in his response, firing back with an extraordinary claim that he was the sole reason Kelly is no longer coaching at LSU.
“I am the sole reason Brian Kelly is not coaching at LSU,” Fehoko wrote. “Please put some respect on my name.”
Fehoko’s confident declaration quickly drew the attention of college football fans, many of whom mocked the former LSU defensive tackle.
“Bro, you are so full of yourself it’s insane,” a comment read.
“Sole reason…? Did you eat 54 million dollars? Were you the reason they lost by 24 at home to A&M?” a fan stated.

“‘Sole reason’ you really are a legend, bro, in your own mind,” a fan wrote.
Fehoko later attempted to provide more context for his controversial statement. He said that roughly two months before Kelly was fired, he shared information he had learned from LSU staffers and players about what was happening behind the scenes.
Fehoko further claimed that his comments reached influential figures within the LSU community, suggesting that they contributed to the pressure surrounding Kelly. However, his explanation did little to convince skeptical fans.
“Bro thinks he’s Jayden Daniels or something,” a fan joked.
“Seriously, get off X; you are destroying your name with the LSU fan base. Your posts are becoming a joke,” one fan added.

“I think BK did a good job at getting himself fired,” another comment read.
Following Kelly’s firing, then-LSU athletic director Scott Woodward explained that the Tigers hired Kelly with the expectation that he would compete for multiple SEC championships and national titles. According to Woodward, however, the level of sustained success LSU expected failed to materialize, eventually leading the program to move in a different direction.
Kelly finished his four-year tenure with the Tigers with a 34-14 record. During his time at LSU, he guided the program to the 2022 SEC Championship Game. However, the Tigers failed to consistently compete at the highest level under his leadership.
Despite the frustration surrounding Kelly’s tenure, the former LSU coach did oversee the development of quarterback Jayden Daniels, who blossomed into one of the nation’s biggest stars and ultimately won the Heisman Trophy in 2023.
LSU ended up replacing Kelly with Lane Kiffin, hiring the former Ole Miss coach to lead the program on a seven-year, $91 million contract.
