Jill Scott postpones final tour dates after testing positive for COVID-19

The Grammy-winning singer said she is feeling OK but rescheduled four shows to protect fans and her team.
Jill Scott has postponed the final four U.S. dates of her “To Whom This May Concern” tour after testing positive for COVID-19.
Scott had been scheduled to perform at Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land, Texas, on Aug. 30 and 31. Those concerts have been moved to Sept. 11 and 12. Her Sept. 3 and 4 shows at The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas, have been rescheduled for Sept. 14 and 15, according to her IG posts.
Scott told fans that doctors initially believed she had a minor virus before it turned out to be COVID-19. She said she feels OK but cannot go out without a mask and does not want to risk exposing concertgoers or members of her team.
“For everyone’s safety and wellness, I have to reschedule my last four shows on the US TOUR as well,” Scott wrote in her announcement.
The Texas changes follow postponements in Detroit. Scott was scheduled to perform at the Fox Theatre on Aug. 26 and 27, but those concerts were moved to Sept. 6 and 7 after illness.
Previously purchased tickets and packages will be honored for the rescheduled dates.
Scott’s diagnosis interrupts the U.S. portion of a 36-date world tour that began in June and is scheduled to continue internationally through the fall. Scott announced the run in March after releasing “To Whom This May Concern” in February.
The album marked Scott’s return to full-length studio music after more than a decade. The 19-track project features Ab-Soul, J.I.D., Tierra Whack and Too $hort, and Scott said she hoped the record would encourage listeners to pursue their own “personal revolutions.”
Scott’s current setback appears temporary. In her message to fans, she apologized for the postponements and emphasized that the decision was about protecting others while she recovers.
Her U.S. tour is now scheduled to resume Sept. 6 in Detroit before moving to Sugar Land on Sept. 11 and 12 and Irving on Sept. 14 and 15.
