Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown is ready to make his debut for the Tigers on Saturday vs. the Baylor Bears after following head coach Alex Golesh from South Florida. Brown enters Week 1 as Auburn’s starting quarterback after producing more than 4,000 yards of offense and 42 total touchdowns last season with the Bulls.
The senior will lead the Tigers into the Aflac Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, marking his first game in an Auburn uniform. Rivals and On3 Sports’ Bryan Matthews shared Brown’s message Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, as the quarterback gets ready for his official debut.

Brown arrives at Auburn after four seasons at South Florida, where he developed into one of college football’s most productive dual-threat quarterbacks. He completed 66.3% of his passes for 3,158 yards, 28 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 2025.
His second-team All-AAC selection further highlighted the production that made him a proven option for Golesh entering his first season as the head coach of the Tigers.
The 6-foot-3 quarterback also rushed for 1,008 yards and 14 touchdowns, giving him 4,166 total yards and 42 scores. Brown became the 12th FBS player to record 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in the same season.
He entered the transfer portal on December 22 before committing to Auburn on January 6. The move reunited Brown with Golesh and offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joel Gordon, giving him continuity within the offensive system as the Tigers football program starts a new era.
Saturday will also mark Brown’s first live game action since he opted out of South Florida’s Cure Bowl matchup against Old Dominion in December.
Auburn and Baylor will meet Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The Tigers beat the Bears 38-24 last season, while the Bears enter this year’s matchup with former Florida quarterback DJ Lagway leading the offense.
