COMMITMENT: Longhorns add 2027 WR as preferred walk-on

While the Texas Longhorns have been busy preparing for the 2026 campaign, they have also been building for the future. That continued last week when they added a wide receiver in Archer Wilburn to their 2027 class. The Dallas native will be a preferred walk-on and has been a human highlight reel at St. Mark's School of Texas. 

During his recruitment process, Wilburn drew the interest of some of the nation's top programs. He visited Miami, SMU, and Oklahoma. While the newest Longhorn cast a wide net, he ultimately decided that the best place to start his college career was Austin. Now he will get to learn from Steve Sarkisian and his staff while playing alongside a talented quarterback, Dia Bell, who could be the starter next season, depending on what the future holds for Arch Manning. 

When Wilburn arrives on campus, he will be part of a recruiting class that has high expectations. The Longhorns have secured commitments from five-star recruits Easton Royal and Ismael Camara. They will be joined by four-star recruits Kasi Currie, Landen Williams-Callis, Cameron Hall, Brock Williams, Brian Swanson and Jabarrius Garror.

Although Wilburn will have to battle for playing time, he has impressed the Longhorns coaching staff enough to earn an opportunity. If he continues to improve his game, Wilburn will no longer be flying under the radar. For Sarkisian and his staff, that would be a welcome outcome. 

Over the next few months, the focus for Wilburn will be to put himself in the best position to make an immediate impact when his first collegiate season gets underway.
