Marcel Reed Got Hit With Savage One-Liner After His Bold Arch Manning, Texas Warning

Marcel Reed’s Texas A&M and Arch Manning’s Texas are both expected to enter the 2026 season with lofty expectations. With both programs seen as potential SEC contenders, this year’s meeting could carry even greater significance than the 2025 edition. 

Meanwhile, Reed has already added fuel to the rivalry by openly expressing his dislike for Texas.

Texas A&M’s 2025 season ended in disappointing fashion, as the Aggies suffered a 10-3 home loss to Miami in the opening round of the College Football Playoff. With that loss still fresh, Texas A&M is expected to enter the 2026 season with plenty of motivation and a desire to make amends.

However, among all the games on the schedule, there is one matchup that Reed appears to have circled more than any other, which is the rivalry showdown with Texas.

When Reed was asked about Texas A&M’s Week 13 meeting with the Longhorns, he did not hesitate to make his feelings known

“We don’t like Texas,” Reed said. “I don’t like Texas. It sucks that we’ve lost to them twice. But, they’re coming here this year, so they’re gonna have to pay. I’ve got something for them, for sure.”

Reed’s comments quickly made their way around the SEC, eventually becoming a talking point on That SEC Podcast. Host Michael Bratton brought up the quarterback’s bold statement while discussing the upcoming rivalry, asking SEC writer Chris Marler whether he believed Reed could back up the confidence.

However, Marler wasted little time in dismissing the Aggies quarterback’s bravado with a brutally simple response.

“What is it, an interception?” Marler exclaimed, which left Bratton cracking up.

For Texas A&M, the rivalry has been particularly painful since Texas entered the SEC. The Aggies came into last year’s meeting with plenty at stake, needing a win over their longtime rivals to secure a place in the SEC Championship Game. 

Instead, Manning’s squad came away with a 27-17 win, handing Texas A&M a crushing defeat in the final game of the regular season. The loss was especially difficult for Reed, who struggled throughout the contest. He threw two interceptions as the Longhorns secured the victory, leaving Texas A&M winless against Texas since the Longhorns joined the SEC.

Reed’s individual numbers against the Longhorns haven’t provided much reason for optimism. In his two starts against Texas, Reed has managed only 326 total passing yards, along with one touchdown and three interceptions. 

That history makes the upcoming matchup an important opportunity for Reed. He will not only be trying to lead Texas A&M past its biggest in-state rival but also looking to silence the critics who have questioned his performances in this matchup. 

Standing on the other side will be Manning, who has already received significant preseason Heisman attention. Manning won’t be the only major challenge facing the Aggies, either. 

Texas enters the season with preseason first-team All-American wide receiver Cam Coleman, giving Manning another elite weapon in the passing game. The Longhorns also boast edge rusher Colin Simmons, who is projected by many to be a first-round selection in the 2027 NFL Draft.
