Florida's sells out season opener vs FAU, marking 19th straight time

Florida football's 2026 season opener against the Florida Atlantic Owls inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Saturday is sold out, the Gators Ticket Office announced Thursday, marking the 19th straight sellout at the Swamp.
The streak is the program's longest since selling out 138 consecutive games from 1989-2011. The announcement comes two days after the program revealed that student season football tickets were sold out for this fall.
The packed house will witness the start of the Jon Sumrall era, hoping for a turn of fortune for a program that has lost more games than it has won over the past six seasons, stretching back into Dan Mullen's tenure.
"I’m gonna be pretty excited about it," Sumrall said at the SEC teleconference on Wednesday.
"I’ve said this a lot: I think back to when I was on the opposite sideline a couple times here as a player and as a coach, and how unique and special I’ve always felt like the Swamp is," he continued. "And the fanbase here is so electric and charged up that I’ll be very similarly wired. That gameday opportunity here is unlike many out there. And so, I’ll be amped up."
Kickoff between Florida and FAU is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET and the game will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
