Wisconsin sophomore running back Darrion Dupree shone in UW’s 27-10 upset win over Illinois on Saturday.

After logging 181 rushing yards through his previous eight appearances, including a combined 12 yards in recent contests vs. Washington and Indiana, the Chicago, Illinois, native exploded for 131 rushing yards and two rushing scores on 17 carries. Dupree also added one catch for eight yards.

The sophomore's most notable moment arrived early in the third quarter at the Wisconsin 16-yard line. With under 10 minutes to spare in the frame, Dupree took the ball from quarterback Carter Smith, rushed up the middle, found and seam and took off for an 84-yard score. The highlight pushed UW's edge to 16-7 before kicker Nathanial Vakos netted the extra point.

Dupree would strike again with about eight minutes to play in the fourth quarter on a direct snap for another rushing touchdown. The outing marked the first time Dupree rushed for over 100 yards in a regular-season game as a Badger and the first instance where he left the field with multiple scores on the ground.

The second-year playmaker will look to continue his strong end-of-season performance against the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Nov. 29 in Minneapolis.
