Vanderbilt football opens its 2026 season against Austin Peay at 6 p.m. Sept. 5 (SEC Network+) at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville.

Clark Lea's Commodores are coming off a historic season during which they won 10 games for the first time in program history and were led by Heisman Trophy runner-up, quarterback Diego Pavia.

But Pavia is gone now and his former New Mexico State and Vanderbilt teammate, Blaze Berlowitz, has been named the starting quarterback over freshman Jared Curtis, whom Lea said also will play in the opener.

Austin Peay opened its season with a 35-17 home victory against Gardner-Webb on Aug. 27, led by quarterback Chris Parson, who threw for 308 yards and a touchdown.
