The final message Carlon Jeffery sent to his twin sister, actress Carla Jeffery, has taken on a painful significance following her sudden death at 33.
Carlon shared a screenshot of their last text exchange on Instagram Stories on Wednesday, offering a deeply personal glimpse into the relationship between the siblings shortly before Carla died on Sept. 1, according to People.
His message began with an ordinary request for his sister to call him back. He said he wanted to hear how her day had gone before turning the conversation into an expression of love and encouragement.
Carlon told Carla that her resilience, grace and smile made her a light to those around her. He also urged her to protect that part of herself, writing that she was “the best sister a brother could ask for.”
He ended the message by assuring her that he had her back “in this life and the next.”
The post came as friends, former castmates and fans continued mourning Carla, whose career stretched from childhood television appearances to one of Disney Channel’s most recognizable recent franchises.
Her longtime manager, Carla Alexander, announced the news on Sept. 2, describing Carla as a talented and vibrant performer who had been part of the Alexanders Talent Management family since she was 12.
Carla became widely known for playing Bree Prattle in Disney’s “Zombies” film series. She appeared in the original 2018 movie and its two sequels before reprising the character in the animated “Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.”
Her other credits included “Shake It Up,” “Good Luck, Charlie,” “Suburgatory,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Scream Queens” and “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” She made her screen debut as a child in the 2006 film “Phat Girlz.”
Her “Zombies” family has also been remembering her. Chandler Kinney described Jeffery as someone whose positivity made days brighter, while Milo Manheim shared his own tribute to the actress.
Jeffery’s cause of death has not been publicly disclosed. Her family and representatives have asked for privacy as they mourn. Multiple reports have confirmed her death but have not established a cause.
For Carlon, however, the final exchange now stands as something more intimate than a farewell. It is a record of the love and admiration he wanted his sister to know while she was still here.
