Ohio State to hand out Jim Tressel keepsake before Ball State game

In less than 24 hours, the Ohio State football team will kick off its 2026 season against Ball State. On top of the game, the Buckeyes will celebrate former head coach Jim Tressel with his induction into the Ring of Honor. With a national championship, six Big Ten Championships, and a 9-1 record against Michigan, Tress has earned his place among the Scarlet and Gray royalty. His plaque will hang next to another legendary Ohio State coach, Woody Hayes.

But the celebration will extend even farther, as it was announced that custom rally towels will be handed out, designed to mirror his signature sweater vest. However, if you're going to the game and were hoping to snag one as a souvenir, we've got bad news. Only 1,500 towels will be handed out, and only the first 1,500 students in attendance will receive one.

It's a nice tribute to the man known as the Vest. And if you aren't a student but really want one of these keepsakes, my guess is there are more than a few who would be willing to part with theirs for a small fee.
