Texas A&M’s Terry Bussey Could Be Marcel Reed’s New X-Factor

Texas A&M already has Mario Craver. It added Isaiah Horton. Marcel Reed is back at quarterback. Now Terry Bussey might be ready to crash the party.
The former five-star prospect enters the Aggies’ 2026 opener against Missouri State as one of the most intriguing players on Mike Elko’s roster.

Bussey is currently listed behind Ashton Bethel-Roman at the Z receiver spot, but that depth-chart designation may not tell the full story.
Elko made that pretty clear this week.
“You have seen a much more explosive version of himself in fall camp,” Elko said of Bussey.
That’s the kind of comment that should get Texas A&M fans interested.
Bussey arrived in College Station with elite athletic credentials, but his path hasn’t been completely straightforward.
Now entering his junior season, he appears stronger, more polished and potentially more dangerous as a true offensive weapon.
And the timing couldn’t be better.
Texas A&M lost KC Concepcion, who went No. 24 overall to the Cleveland Browns in the 2026 NFL Draft, but this receiving room hardly looks depleted.
Mario Craver returns after catching 59 passes for 917 yards and four touchdowns last season.
Alabama transfer Isaiah Horton adds size and experience, while Bussey gives offensive coordinator Holmon Wiggins another explosive option capable of stressing defenses horizontally and vertically.
That’s a strong setup for Reed.
The Texas A&M quarterback threw for 3,169 yards, 25 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 2025, helping lead the Aggies to an 11-win season and a College Football Playoff appearance.
If Bussey becomes a legitimate weekly threat, Reed’s ceiling rises with him.
Missouri State should give Texas A&M an opportunity to spread snaps around Saturday night, particularly if the Aggies take control early. That could mean an extended look at Bussey and a better idea of exactly how Wiggins plans to use him.
Don’t expect the Aggies to reveal everything in Week 1. They won’t need to.

But Bussey doesn’t have to become Texas A&M’s No. 1 receiver to change the offense. With Craver and Horton already commanding attention, even a handful of explosive plays from Bussey could force SEC defenses into some uncomfortable choices.
That’s what makes him dangerous. Texas A&M already has weapons. Bussey could be the one that makes the whole offense harder to defend.
