After a hectic week of drama happening outside of the stadium, it is finally almost time for the LSU Tigers to hit the field on Saturday night to take on the Clemson Tigers in the first game of the season.

The current biggest storyline in college football was made moot for this game last night, when it was revealed that LSU had not yet added tight end Dae'Quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris to their roster. It could have to do with a notice from Clemson that LSU could be in breach of contract should the players end up playing.

Still, this is obviously a massive game. It is the kickoff of the Lane Kiffin era in Baton Rouge. All eyes will be on the offense in this game after last season's failures.

Sam Leavitt takes over as the quarterback, after starring for the Arizona State Sun Devils back in 2024 in that offense with Cam Skattebo. His 2025 was marred by injury and inconsistent players. Everyone at LSU has been happy with what Leavitt has brought so far, now to bring to a game.

Blake Baker's defense is also highly anticipated. They kept around some of the top talent, like Dashawn Spears, DJ Pickett, and Whit Weeks, while adding instant-impact players like Princweill Umanmielen.

It will be interesting to see who cracks the defensive line rotation for the Tigers, as they added a ton of talent on the defensive line. Perhaps standout freshman Deuce Geralds could be the first of his class to see the field.
