Iowa football was expected to leave Kinnick Stadium with a big win on Saturday, and it did just that, cruising to an easy 40-0 victory over Northern Illinois. 

Here are some numbers that stood out from the Hawkeyes' win: 

183: That's how many rushing yards Kamari Moulton had on Saturday. There was some questions about how new running backs coach Jay Norvell would split the carries between Moulton and star transfer L.J. Phillips, especially in a game against a week opponent, but all of those answers were revealed when Phillips went down with an injury early in the game.

Moulton's performance helped, too. He tallied 183 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries of work (16.6 yards per carry), and the 183 yards were a new career-high for him. The fourth-year talked about finishing all offseason, and it's safe to say he did that on Saturday. His two touchdowns went for 50 and 37 yards, respectively. The Hawkeyes finished with 289 rushing yards – the 13th time they've done so under Lester. 

84: That's how many receiving yards Tony Diaz had in this one. The Texas Rio Grande Valley transfer received the most attention of any offensive player in the offseason because of his playmaking ability at the FCS level with the Vaqueros last season, but he proved he can be a legitimate threat in Iowa's offense on Saturday. The 84 receiving yards weren't the most he's had in his career, but it's a great start for Diaz. 

7: That's how many first downs Northern Illinois managed to get against a ferocious Hawkeye defense on Saturday, and it would've been less had Iowa not pulled its starters midway through the third quarter. Regardless of who was wearing black and gold, the Huskies had no chance against Phil Parker's squad. They didn't record a first down until the 4:14 mark of the third quarter, and it took a pass interference call for them to move the chains. 

24: Not getting first downs means it's pretty hard to collect yards in the game of football. The Hawkeyes held Northern Illinois to 24 total yards in the first half (eight rushing yards, 16 passing). 

120: Garbage time yards helped the Huskies reach 120 yards on Saturday, but it goes down as the sixth-fewest yards Iowa has allowed in the Kirk Ferentz era. 

507: Remember when reaching the 400-yard mark was a major accomplishment for the Iowa offense? Offensive coordinator Tim Lester has made a point to change that during his tenure in Iowa City, and Saturday's outing was was another sign of that progress. The Hawkeyes tallied 507 yards on this day, which is the most they've had under Lester. Additionally, the 372 first half yards were the most Iowa has had in a game since 2019, when it tallied 358 against Middle Tennessee. 

90: Kinnick Stadium was barely half-full by the middle of the third quarter, and that's because of the heat wave that swept through the Midwest this weekend. The temperature at kickoff was 90 degrees, which goes down as the fourth-hottest home game in Hawkeye football history.
