Texas A&M opened the 2026 season exactly the way a top-10 team should.

The No. 8 Aggies shut out Missouri State 50-0 on Saturday night at Kyle Field, turning a methodical first half into a complete second-half demolition.

Texas A&M controlled the ball, controlled the line of scrimmage and never let the Bears generate anything resembling sustained offense.

Quarterback Marcel Reed looked steady in his season debut, completing 21 of 30 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns.

He found transfer receiver Isaiah Horton for a 15-yard score in the first quarter, then connected with Mario Craver for a 12-yard touchdown just before halftime.

That late first-half score mattered.

Texas A&M had been in control, but not explosive, leading just 12-0 before Reed’s touchdown pass to Craver stretched the margin to 19-0 at the break.

Then the Aggies took over.

Texas A&M opened the third quarter with an 11-play, 70-yard touchdown drive, capped by a 10-yard run from Terry Bussey. Later in the quarter, Jamarion Morrow scored from two yards out to push the lead to 33-0.

The fourth quarter became a showcase for depth.

Carter Baker broke loose for a 12-yard touchdown run, and backup quarterback Brady Hart threw a 15-yard scoring pass to Aaron Gregory. The Aggies later added a field goal to hit 50.

Texas A&M finished with 428 total yards and 29 first downs while holding Missouri State to just 65 yards of offenseand four first downs.

That’s the number that jumps off the page.

Missouri State quarterback Skyler Locklear managed just 30 passing yards, and the Bears finished 1-for-9 on third down. Texas A&M’s defense also forced two turnovers and kept Missouri State off the scoreboard from start to finish.

There were a few blemishes. The Aggies were flagged eight times for 75 yards and lost a fumble, while the offense stalled on a few early drives.

But this was never remotely in danger.

Texas A&M wanted a clean opener, meaningful reps for Reed and a chance to flex its depth. It got all three.
