Gunner Stockton and the Georgia offense thrive vs. Tennessee State

College football is back, and Week 1 kicked off with a matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee State Tigers. The Bulldogs won the contest 63 to 3, and their offense thrived in a hot Sanford Stadium.
Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton was nearly perfect, completing 15 of 16 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns. One of them was a throw to sophomore tight end Elyiss Williams for 17 yards, with Williams diving into the end zone for the score. Another was a pass to sophomore wide receiver Talyn Taylor for 11 yards, which put them up 27-0 in the first quarter alone.
15 different players had at least one reception. Tight end Kaiden Prothro and wideout Jeremey Ball caught touchdowns as well. A good bit of the backups got to contribute also, with quarterback Ryan Puglisi going seven of 13 for 109 yards and a touchdown.
The pass game was great today, but the run game was as well. Georgia rushed for 272 yards on the ground, led by running back Nate Frazier, who rushed for 72 yards and three touchdowns on just four attempts, averaging 18 yards per carry. Add that to the 388 yards the Bulldogs had in the air, and they had 660 yards total.
"Excited for Nate (Frazier)," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said after the game. "He’s worked really hard. Really, it just hit right where the looks they gave us the times he was in, and some big holes opened up. And he did a nice job being explosive through them. He worked really hard this offseason to earn that."
The Bulldogs' offense did great and got a win to begin the season 1-0. Next week they'll take on Western Kentucky on Saturday, September 12th. Western Kentucky is coming off an ugly 49-14 loss to Nevada.
