Highlights: MSU football survives upset scare, beats Toledo in opener

Michigan State football opened the 2026 season with a comeback victory over Toledo on Friday.

The Spartans rallied in the fourth quarter, scoring the final 11 points to survive an upset scare from the Rockets. Michigan State won the game by the final score of 30-20.

Michigan State got solid performances from both the passing and rushing attacks against the Rockets. Alessio Milivojevic threw for 247 yards and one touchdown, with wide receiver Rodney Bullard Jr. led in receiving yards with 90 yards and one touchdown. Cam Edwards carried the load on the ground with just under 100 rushing yards and one score.

With the win, Michigan State improves to 1-0 on the season and will now turn its focus to the Eastern Michigan Eagles next week. Before we start to look ahead to the Eagles, let's take a look back at highlights from this week's win against the Rockets.
