The “Bayou Bandits” came out to play Saturday

It was a night straight out of a movie.

Lane Kiffin’s debut was full of fireworks as over 102,000 people stuffed inside a rainy Death Valley to watch the LSU Tigers suffocate the Clemson Tigers 51-10.

It was one of the worst offensive performances Clemson has had under Dabo and it was in large part to the LSU defense, known as the “Bayou Bandits”.

Blake Baker’s crew held the opposing Tigers to just 145 total yards of offense, with only 40 of it coming from the ground game that was highly talked about it going into the season.

LSU also held the Clemson offense to 105 yards passing, a 1-13 statistic on 3rd down, and LSU racked up 11 tackles for a loss.

After the game, Whit Weeks talked about the defense getting off the field early and often, saying “It sets the tone for the rest of the game. As a defensive unit, our goal is to always go three and out, so when you can do that on the first drive of the game (after a turnover), it’s a huge success for us.”

For their efforts, Jordan Ross was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week after his 30-yard pick six gave LSU the 17-3 lead early in the game. The Tennessee transfer finished the night with four tackles, two tackles for a loss, and the interception.

The Tigers will host the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs this coming Saturday at Tiger Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
