Arizona Cardinals legend Larry Fitzgerald spent 17 seasons putting on a show on the gridiron. But over the weekend, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer gladly traded in his cleats for fan gear to cheer on his son, Devin Fitzgerald, as the University of Notre Dame football team kicked off its season against the University of Wisconsin-Madison Badgers at Lambeau Field.
The elder Fitzgerald couldn’t hide his excitement, taking to X to post about the special experience.
“Proud dad moment. Watching @devinfitz118 play @NDFootball at a sold-out Lambeau Field. What a day!” Fitzgerald wrote.

It truly was a massive stage for Devin, a freshman wide receiver for the Fighting Irish. Playing in front of a packed crowd of 75,939 fans at one of football’s most iconic venues, the young receiver took in an atmosphere few college rookies ever get to experience.
The Fighting Irish made sure the trip to Green Bay was worth every bit of the hype. Ranked No. 4 in the country, Notre Dame pulled away in the second half to secure a dominant 41-13 victory over Wisconsin in the Shamrock Series.
Things started sluggishly for the Irish, who held a narrow 13-10 lead heading into halftime. However, the offense erupted after the break, outscoring the Badgers 28-3 in the second half. Quarterback CJ Carr orchestrated the aerial attack, finishing 19-of-29 passing for 239 yards and two touchdowns, spreading the ball around to nine different targets. Meanwhile, running back Aneyas Williams grounded out 90 rushing yards and two scores to keep Wisconsin on its heels.
On defense, Notre Dame locked down the Badgers, holding them to just 67 total rushing yards on 31 carries.
Seeing your kid suit up for a storied program like Notre Dame is special enough. Doing it at Lambeau Field while watching your team notch a statement win makes it an unforgettable core memory.
