FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas football won’t announce who will be its starting quarterback against Missouri until gameday on Saturday, Nov. 29.
During his weekly press conference on Monday, Nov. 24, interim coach Bobby Petrino said its too early for the Razorbacks (2-9, 0-7 SEC) to announce who will start under center between Taylen Green and redshirt freshman KJ Jackson.
Jackson replaced Green during the third quarter of the Hogs’ 52-37 loss to Texas. After throwing an interception, Green limped to the sideline and had both of his legs looked at by the Arkansas training staff.
Eventually, Green got cleared to return, but Petrino stuck with Jackson. The lefty completed 16 of 29 passes for 206 yards and a touchdown. He also scored on a 12-yard run, and the Hogs outscored Texas 17-14 with the Jackson in the game.
Green finished the Texas game 10 for 20 with 118 passing yards. He logged six carries for 56 yards and a touchdown.
On the year, Green has 2,655 passing yards, 773 rushing yards, 27 total touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He has been one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country, but costly turnovers have played large roles throughout his time with the Razorbacks.
The Battle Line Rivalry will represent the final game of Green’s college career, while Jackson could return as Arkansas’ starter in 2026. However, Jackson could also enter the transfer portal, and there are no guarantees the next Arkansas head coach won’t want to handpick his own quarterback.
