Kansas State Adds Former Temple CB Ben Osueke

The Kansas State Wildcats defense just got a lot better.
On Tuesday, it was reported that former Temple Owls cornerback Ben Osueke was granted a sixth year of eligibility after winning a lawsuit against the NCAA. He has decided to join the Wildcats program.
Last year Osueke was a third-team All-AAC player. He finished with 30 tackles, one interception and eight passes defended. He started every game for the Owls.
He should bolster a defensive backfield that already includes Zashon Rich, Kaleb Patterson, Garrick Dixon and Damion Miller. The Wildcats are relatively young at the position and have been without Donovan McIntosh because of injury.
Osueke is part of the growing trend of players who are suing the NCAA over eligibility. The NCAA has recently adopted a rule that allows players to have five seasons if they meet the requirements.
LATEST INJURY UPDATES
The Wildcats received some good news on the injury front this week.
On Monday, Wildcats coach Collin Klein gave the media an update on linebacker Mekhi Mason, who sustained an unknown lower body injury in Saturday's win against Nicholls at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
Klein said Mason may return to the field sooner than later.
"I don't think it's going to be as bad as what was maybe initially thought," Klein said. "So, very, very positive on that front."
Mason had one solo tackle in the season opener. He transferred to Kansas State after playing at Louisiana Tech. He was a second-team All-Conference USA selection.
Mason is part of a linebacker unit that is trying to make up for the loss of All-Big 12 player Austin Romaine, who transferred to play for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Mason started alongside Gabe Powers.
After defeating Nicholls 71-3 in the season opener at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, the Wildcats return to action at home again this week versus the Washington State Cougars. It marks the second game of the Klein era.
