We're officially in full swing of the college football season and today, the US LBM Top 25 Coaches Poll was released this afternoon due to the elongated Labor Day Weekend slate of games. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish move up to No. 4 after their 41-13 victory over a much improved Wisconsin Badger's team. After a slow start, the Irish outscored Wisconsin 28-3 in the second half and was able to pull away in the final 30 minutes of play. 

Coming into the matchup, the Irish were heavy favorites against the unranked Badgers and were three touchdown favorites at kickoff. Thanks to a dominant second half of football, the Fighting Irish covered and went on to win by 28 points.  Head coach Marcus Freeman advances to 1-0 for the third time in his tenure and will look to build on that resume this upcoming weekend when they host the 1-0 and unranked Rice Owls. Home openers have not gone in Notre Dame's favor the last two seasons. This Saturday will be a prime opportunity to right the ship. 

Notre Dame remains a top five team in the US LBM Coaches Poll after remaining unscathed in their season opener. There was only one team in the Preseason Coaches Poll that lost in Week 0 and Week 1 and that was Clemson who fell to No. 8 LSU in Week 1 in Baton Rouge 51-10. Clemson was the only team that lost, but that doesn't mean there weren't close calls. 

Oregon, who was ranked No. 2 in the Preseason Coaches Poll, went down to the wire at home to an unranked Boise State team. Michigan should have lost to Western Michigan but after one of the most questionable calls in recent memory, ended up winning at the last second on a Hail Mary. Ole Miss was taken down to the wire against an unranked Louisville team in the Preseason Coaches Poll and last night No. 17 ranked SMU picked up a 27-24 victory over Florida State on the road in Tallahassee.
