Despite the Clemson Tigers getting blown out in Week 1 of the new college football season to LSU, the program could be on the verge of landing a top prospect.

Clemson was named in a final list of 12 schools for five-star wide receiver Braylon Clark. Clark told insider Hayes Fawcett of Rivals that the Tigers had made the cut.

Clark would be part of the recruiting class of 2028. Clemson could get a massive boost to the program if they were to land his services.

Other than Clemson, here is a list of 11 schools who the Tigers will be competing with to land the five-star wideout:

Alabama Crimson Tide

LSU Tigers

Ohio State Buckeyes

Miami Hurricanes

Tennessee Volunteers

Texas Longhorns

Indiana Hoosiers

USC Trojans

Oregon Ducks

South Carolina Camecocks

Texas A&M Aggies

Between these teams listed, Clemson is one of two teams not in the SEC or Big Ten, with the other being the Hurricanes. This could loom large for the Tigers, especially if Clark has a preference to land in either of those conferences.

But given that they made the cut on his final list of 12 teams, it's safe to say that he is at least considering the Tigers. Clemson has done well with wide receiver products over the years, but this could be an uphill battle to land Clark.

Clark has the tools to become a true top option for any offense down the line. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver uses his size and athleticism to his advantage, gaining the edge on any defenders.

But his ability to break open in the field is what could end up helping him separate from the rest of the players.

Beating out teams such as Oregon, Ohio State, Alabama, or LSU for a tip wide receiver will be tough. But Clemson has won two championships under head coach Dabo Swinney, which could help their cause with prospective players.

Even with the Tigers underperforming in recent years, the brand of Clemson can still be alluring to players. The entire college football world has changed with the addition of NIL, and Clemson has fallen behind a little.

But in the end, this program is still a top one in the country, giving them a chance to earn Clark's attention. There is no timeline for his decision, but Clark will continue to narrow down his list of teams as time goes on.
