The film continues to round out its cast ahead of its 2027 release date, with Jonathan Daviss playing Snoop, Lauren London playing the rapper’s late mother, Beverly Tate and more.
The son of the late D’Angelo and Angie Stone is set to play hip-hop royalty.
According to Variety, Swayvo Twain, whose real name is Michael D’Angelo Archer II, will play The Notorious B.I.G. in the upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic, “Snoop.”
For Twain, it marks his first official film role, and he’ll be joining Lauren London, Myles Bullock, Camron Jones, Tre Hale and more in what is considered the “definitive biopic of the entertainment mogul and icon.”
A budding recording artist in his own right, Twain has released several songs, including “DoveSoar” and “Ms. Angie’s Son,” the latter of which is an homage to his late mother.
The film previously announced several roles had been casted, from “Nemesis” actor Hale playing Suge Knight to Jones as Tupac Shakur, London as Snoop’s late mother, Beverly Tate, “The Equalizer” actress Laya DeLeon Hayes as Snoop’s wife, Shante Broadus, Algee Smith as Warren G, Olly Sholotan as Warren G and Jonica Booth of “Rap Sh!t” fame as The Lady of Rage.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Twain shared a video of himself moving around Los Angeles, meeting Snoop and captioned it with a familiar refrain, “It’s all good baby, BABYYY…”
Also cast in the film are Bentley Green as RBX and Los Angeles rapper G Perico as Big Reecie Cup.
Directed by Craig Brewer (“Hustle and Flow”), the film already has its Snoop and Dr. Dre in Jonathan Daviss and Myles Bullock Be. The inclusion of Biggie highlights how pivotal the East Coast rapper was to Snoop’s story during the highs and lows of the East Coast/West Coast beef. Biggie, who was gunned down in 1997, had his life story told on the big screen in 2009’s “Notorious” and has been portrayed in various re-enactments over the years.
“Snoop” is set to be released theatrically on August 6, 2027.
